(November 10, 2017) — If Greg Winder disappears somewhere near where Mike Copeland was last seen, there’s a real good chance those two are up to something.

Well, at least we don’t have to say they were up to no good because they were up to surprising the Yellow Jackets with a district championship trophy earned with wins over Brownwood, Big Spring, Snyder and as of just a few moments earlier, Abilene Wylie in a 33-20 regular-season finale.

Stephenville players gathered around a paper banner boasting they are district champs, and as soon as Winder saw plenty of photos had been taken he charged up to his team from behind them and told them he had something better. And indeed, he did.

A roar went up from the team as they closed in tight, everyone wanting a piece as they lifted it high in celebration of Yellow Jacket football being rightfully restored to the top of its league.

Another gold football was headed to the case, captured, as Cole Pettit said, on a “revenge tour” that saw the Yellow Jackets avenge losses from the past two seasons seemingly one after another on their way to the top of 3-4A Division I and on into the playoffs.

The Jackets gave Winder his first district title as head coach on November 10, 2017, and then he presented them the trophy to commemorate it, in perhaps the best Jake & Dorothy’s Cafe Special Moment of the Week all season.

Winder and the Yellow Jacket surely made last Friday special, a lot like Jake & Dorothy’s Cafe has made every day special since 1948!
