
Daniel Riley Seal, born December 29, 1931 in Dallas, Texas, passed away, November 29, 2017 in Tomball, Texas at age 85.
Mr. Seal was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years Betty Louise Seal, his parents, Roy Olen Seal and Bennie Seal, and sister Joree Seal. Dan is survived by his sons, Mike Seal and wife Caren, Matt Seal and wife Shannon; grandchildren Catie Seal, Caroline Seal, Madelyn Seal, Cora Seal and Olen Seal; brother Don Seal; niece Claudia Hall and husband Mitchell; brothers and sisters in law Johnny Goodwin, Vicki Goodwin, Joan Whitaker, June Fulton, Tom Goodwin, and Terry Vaughn; as well as his long-time companion Helen Covey.
Dan graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron for roughly 30 years followed by about 20 years of miscellaneous engineering consulting including a notable stint with Schooner Petroleum.
Mr. Seal was very active as a Master Mason for over 30 years. He served in multiple leadership capacities during his masonic career. Key roles and accolades included Worshipful Master at Tomball Lodge, District Deputy Grand Master, District Instructor, 33rd degree Mason, Eminent Commander, Golden Trowel, Eastern Star Worthy Patron, and member of the Texas Grand Lodge.
Dan was always active and adventurous. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snow skiing. He also loved riding his motorcycle. Over many years and many trips with Betty and other friends and companions he visited all 48 states and racked up hundreds of thousands of miles. Dan traveled extensively internationally for both work and pleasure. He was also a pilot and in addition to many years of recreational flying he volunteered considerable time to charity air transport organizations.
Mr. Seal honorably served our country as a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army in Korea from 1952 to 1954.
Service Information
The family will receive visitors from 2 until 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, at the Spring Creek Church of Christ, located at 14847 Brown Rd in Tomball. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Spring Creek Church of Christ in Tomball.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, in the Hico Cemetery.
My brother, Daniel Riley Seal was not born in Eola, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas. Our father, Roy Olen Seal was born in Eola, Texas.
