STEPHENVILLE (December 8, 2017) — New 14-passenger people movers begin scheduled routes during peak class times on Tarleton State University’s Stephenville campus this spring, and students can customize rides to apartment complexes, local shops and restaurants via public transit with a simple phone call.

“New vehicles, revised routes and personalized service will help students with their on- and off-campus transportation needs,” said Shelly Brown, associate director of Parking and Transportation Services. “Our goal is to provide Tarleton students with the most efficient and cost-effective rides possible.”

More information about on-campus routes will be available after winter break.

While pre-planned routes by large, purple-wrapped shuttles within the Stephenville community—from locations like The Grove and the shopping center of Wolfe Nursery Road—will end due to low ridership, City and Rural Ride Shuttle Service will remain available for transportation beyond Tarleton.

The public, purple-wrapped shuttle service will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Rides within a 5-mile radius cost $1. Students can pay per ride or purchase a $20 pass from CARR shuttle drivers for multiple trips.
