(December 19, 2017) — The Associated Press Sports Editor’s All-State Football Team for Conference 4A was released Tuesday with the most prestigious recognition for a Stephenville player going to senior offensive lineman Ty’von Anderson-Robison.
A second-team selection to the all-state roster, Anderson-Robison joins center Jacob Poston and wide receiver Blake Aragon, both honorable-mention picks, in earning offensive accolades. The Yellow Jacket offense averaged 423 yards and 37 points in the regular season.
Defensive lineman Pacen Parker, linebacker Blu Caylor, the 8-4A Defensive MVP, and defensive backs Gage Graham, the overall 8-4A MVP, and Cole Pettit are honorable-mention all-state selections from a Stephenville defense that surrendered just 18 points per game in the regular season. Pettit will graduate as the Stephenville career leader in interceptions with nine.
Only regular season statistics count toward the APSE team, but with the regular season and five playoff games,. Caylor finished his junior season with 189 tackles. Graham, a safety, ended his junior campaign with 146 tackles and five intercpetions, while Pettit, a senior cornerback, intercepted six passes, broke up 15 and made 49 tackles.
Aragon, who is signing in the early signing period Wednesday with Texas State University, completed his senior season with 52 catches, 924 yards and 11 TDs.
