STEPHENVILLE (January 10, 2017) — The price is quickly soaring for a pair of cleats used by Stephenville native Cody Davis in an NFL game this season, with all money made through the sale of the cleats going to Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
A longtime advocate of FCA, Davis chose the global organization as the beneficiary of his My Cause My Cleats campaign, when NFL players are permitted to compete in one game wearing a pair of approved cleats artistically designed to place attention on the player’s pre-approved choice of non-profit organization or cause.
Davis challenged Cross Timbers FCA members to produce the best design, and the winner was junior Tyler Schouten.
As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, there were 11 days and almost 4 hours remaining in the NFL auction of the cleats at nflauction.nfl.com. The price was $70 and is climbing in $10 increments.
Davis included this verse of Scripture with information he shared concerning the auction.”
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” –Hebrews 12:1
