(February 14, 2018) — Everyone in the lineup got in on the season-opening action for Stephenville in a 16-0 blow out road win over Comanche Tuesday.
All nine starters drove in at least one run while three of them had multiple RBIs and four of them scored multiple runs.
With 2018 Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Julia Flores in the circle, that may be enough offense for a month let alone just one game.
The East Texas Baptist signee was almost untouchable in the circle, striking out five of 13 batters faced while walking two and yielding just one hit. And she doesn’t just pitch around bats; she can swing one, too.
Flores was 3-for-3 with two doubles Tuesday, driving in three runs and scoring two to highlight an offensive firework show featuring 16 Honeybee hits, six for extra bases.

After inking with Cisco College two weeks ago, Morgan DiCiccio certainly looked the part of a next level slap-and-run weapon with three hits, all singles, and three sprints across home plate.
Both four-year letter winners, DiCiccio and Flores were members of the most successful teams in Stephenville softball history the past two seasons and including the 2018 opener have been a part of 67 victories in their careers. Flores is 55-29 in the circle, having gone 11-12 in 2015, 21-11 in 2016 and 22-6 last spring plus this 1-0 start.
Bianka Garcia was 2-for-3 with a double, driving in three runs and scoring two. Madison Gilder had a double among her two hits and drove in two runs while also scoring two. Varsity newcomer Katie McIrvin also had two hits, both singles, to drive in one run and score two.
Jessica Ebeling made the most of her lone hit – an RBI triple. Samantha Luna, Skye Gaitan and Jettie Funderburgh, another rookie on the varsity scene each had a hit and all three drove in a run and scored, with Gaitan crossing home plate twice.
The competition gets more difficult today with the beginning of the Brock Classic. In pool play, Stephenville faces Salao at 11 a.m. and Azle at 3 p.m. today, followed on Friday by Midland Christian at 3 p.m. and Weatherford Friday. Each team will compete twice in bracket play on Saturday.
