STEPHENVILLE (March 19, 2018) — Celebrating April as National Poetry Month, Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas is featuring the exhibition, “Art and Industry” consisting of local poetry and art based in the unique history of the Thurber area, beginning Saturday, March 24.
The Gordon Center offers a glimpse into another time as visitors hear stories about life in Thurber from the residents themselves, explore exhibits featuring historic photos and artifacts, watch early film of Thurber residents at work and play and stroll past reconstructions of much of the original town.
Visitors to the museum also have the opportunity to add their own poetic efforts to the exhibition.
Admission is free to the exhibit, which lasts through April.
The W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas, a Tarleton museum and research facility located in the historic ghost town of Thurber, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The center is located at Exit 367 on Interstate 20 between Fort Worth and Abilene.
