STEPHENVILLE – For the first time this season and the ninth time in program history, Tarleton Softball is among the nation’s top 25 programs in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association ranking.
No. 25 Tarleton jumped into the poll after receiving votes in every poll of the season and are one of four Lone Star Conference schools represented, joining Angelo State (4), Texas A&M-Commerce (9), and West Texas A&M (15). The TexAnns are currently 25-6 this season and have won seven straight, including a doubleheader sweep of region rival St. Mary’s yesterday.
This week is the first time Tarleton has been in the NFCA poll since being ranked No. 25 on March 2, 2016. Only 14 votes separate the No. 23, 24 and 25 teams in the rankings – California Baptist (50), Valdosta State (42) and Tarleton (36).
The TexAnns will be back in action today with a 3 p.m. single game against NAIA Friends University (Ks.) before resuming Lone Star Conference play against Western New Mexico this weekend with a Friday doubleheader at 4 p.m. and a Saturday doubleheader at 12 p.m. in the inaugural CFC Awareness Weekend.
