Clifford Donal Swaffar passed away peacefully at home, May 2, 2018. Born January 14, 1933 in Hollis, Oklahoma, he attended school in Altus, OK until his Senior year when he transferred to Borger High in Borger, TX. He loved sports, and played as half-back for both schools football teams. Don joined the U. S. Army in 1951 during the Korean conflict, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent as a tank driver with the 245th Tank Battalion of the 45th Infantry Division Thunderbirds.
He returned to civilian life in 1953, where he started a family and worked as a welder in oilfield construction. He excelled at his craft and continued his education, becoming the welding inspector for the fourth nuclear power plant in the United States at Surrey, Virginia, and the Gravelines Nuclear Power Station in Dunkirk, France.
He and his wife retired to Hico in 1997, where Don became a Deacon of the Duffau Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children William Swaffar of Austin, and April Robinson Wilson of Duffau; grand-daughters, Laurin, Sarah, and Desiree; great grand-children, Mekayla, Donavann, Aiden, Justice, Autumn, Thomas, Gabriel, Aubree, and Jacob.
He is preceded in death by his wife Billie Ruth, and his parents S. M., and Jessie Lucille Swaffar.
