No. 13 TexAnns remain in fourth heading to final round of NCAA West Regional


DURANGO, Colo. – No. 13 Tarleton Women’s Golf improved its score by four strokes but still remains in fourth place after two rounds of the NCAA Division II West Regional at the Hillcrest Golf Club.
The TexAnns carded a 309 (+21) in the second round after recording a 313 (+25) in the first for a total score of 622 (+46). Dallas Baptist leads the field with a 597 (+21), followed by California Baptist’s 609 (+33) in second place and West Texas A&M in third with a 611 (+35).
The top three teams and top three individuals from non-qualifying teams will advance to the NCAA Championships at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston on May 16-19.
Through two rounds, the TexAnns have recorded 83 pars as a team and lead the regional with 19 birdies.


Casey Wild is tied for seventh place with a 152 (+8). Wild shot a 74 (+2) in the opening round and a 78 (+6) this afternoon. The senior is five strokes off the individual lead, held by Jocelyn Chee Yi Min of California Baptist. Wild had a pair of birdies on the front nine and finished with nine pars in today’s round.
Junie Khaw is tied for 12th place with a score of 155 (+11). Khaw recorded an 80 in the second round and had eight pars and a birdie on the day.
Sarah Gee improved her score by six strokes on the day, going from an 81 to a 75 (+3) and is tied for 22nd with a 156 (+12). Gee had a strong start to her round on the back nine, shooting 3-under par through the first six holes. In the second round, Gee had three birdies and 10 pars.
Casey Leatherman and Breanna Smith also reduced their score by six strokes on day two to climb the individual leaderboard. Leatherman moved up 11 spots to tie for 36th after shooting a 77 (+5) and has a total score of 160 (+16) through two rounds. Smith shot a 79 (+7) and has a total score of 164 (+20). Leatherman and Smith each had three birdies in their rounds.

The TexAnns will tee off in the final round on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. CST.
