More than 30 athletes attended the Honeybee Softball Camp hosted by coach Rus Mayes and his staff this week at the Stephenville City Park and the coaches are reporting they liked what they saw.

“These young ladies came out willing to work and improve their game and when you have that kind of attitude they are obviously a joy to coach,” Mayes said. “I was also pleased in how some of the older kids took on some leadership roles to help us.”

Mayes promises two things when attending camp and that’s improvement through hard work. Problems get called out (gently) and corrected, and the resulting smile when the ball hits the mark the next time offers some satisfaction.

“We’ve almost got more players than we can handle,” Mayes said. “Not that I am complaining. This is a good problem to have. I want to thank all the players, parents and especially our coaches and volunteers for helping out.”
