Stephenville Honeybee Varsity squad has been hard at work. This Spring/Summer they are doing something a little different by playing under the AAU DFW Hawks organization with now head boys Weatherford Basketball coach, Kevin Pope as their summer coach.
The squad started in April and have been going strong and will continue till mid-July. The roster is down to 10, with the loss of Madison Carter, who will be transferring to Seminole High School in the fall.
The Bees have been putting in work, with practices twice a week and two tournaments a month, and with that hard work comes SUCCESS! The Honeybees (DFW Hawks-Stephenville) have managed to take either 1st or 2nd at almost every tournament they have attended, with the most recent first-place win coming from the June Jamboree in Millsap.
Next week the BEES will show off their hard work at the TBC State Tournament in Grapevine, where they will go against 6A, 5A, and 4A summer high school teams.
To qualify for the State Tournament they had to take either first or second at a SQT (State Qualifying Tournament), and the Bees qualified in May when they won the championship in Decatur tournament.
They will be rounding off the summer with Tarleton Team Camp and one last tournament in Haltom City. It is proving to be a good Summer for the future of Stephenville Honeybee Basketball!
