Bees and Jackets lay claim to district titles in dominant fashion

It was almost a clean sweep for the Stephenville High School cross teams as both the boys and girls varsity teams won first at the district meet while the JV girls also won a title and the JV boys were second.

It was a wet, muddy and slick course after raining most of the morning and into the lunch hour but the rain stopped falling prior to the 3:30 PM start Tuesday at the Stephenville City Park.

The varsity Bees got a 1-2 finish from Presley Wall and Emily Kirbo in the tightest race of the day with Wall edging out Kirbo for the gold medal. Wall’s time of 12:47.57 was just over a second faster than Kirbo’s 12:48.78 clocking.

In the varsity boys, Christian Brown was a solid second place with a time of 17:45.48, Daniel Orsornio and Luis Carrillo also earned points for the Jackets with 5^th and 6^th place finishes

In the junior varsity girls, Kassidy Nowak led a wave of Bees who garnered eight of the top nine spots while Alfonso Moreno was first in the junior varsity boys.
