Texans return to Wisdom Gym for Texan Tip-Off Classic

THE GAMES
Tarleton men’s basketball returns home for the annual Texan Tip-Off Classic against UC-Colorado Springs and University of the Southwest on Nov. 9-10. The Texans will play UCCS on Friday at 7 p.m. and USW on Saturday, also at 7 p.m.

GAME PROMOTIONS
There is a full slate of basketball promotions this weekend. On Friday, Tarleton Basketball will recognize the university’s registered student organizations as well as giving away free basketball posters while supplies last. There will also be a dash-for-cash at halftime, allowing select fans to win free money. Saturday is Military Appreciation and all members of the military and immediate families will receive free admission. It will also be Tarleton’s first ‘Texan Two-Step’, which allows anyone who purchases a football ticket to receive free admission into the basketball game.

TARLETON SPORTS NETWORK
Each game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans Byron Anderson will have the call for Tarleton basketball this season. The radio broadcast can be heard on KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville and surrounding areas or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive.

TICKET INFORMATION
The Tarleton State Ticket Office is open from 1:30-4 p.m. in the main lobby of Wisdom Gym and can be reached by telephone at 254-968-1832. Cash, check, and cards are all accepted. Tarleton’s Stephenville Campus Students receive free admission to all home games with valid Stephenville Campus Student ID.

ABOUT TARLETON:
The Texans are coming off a 2-0 road trip at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in St. Joseph, Missouri with wins over Missouri Western and William Jewell. Josh Hawley was named to the All-Tournament team after averaging 17 points and 13.5 rebounds and recording a pair of double-doubles. Corinthian Ramsey (14.5) and Randall Broddie (10.5) are averaging double figures in scoring through two games.

ABOUT UC-COLORADO SPRINGS:
UC-Colorado Springs is coming off a 15-14 campaign in 2017-18 where they lost in the first round of the RMAC Tournament. The Mountain Lions were picked to finish seventh in the RMAC preseason poll. Senior guard Elijah Ross was selected as a preseason first-team all-RMAC selection. Tarleton is 3-1 all-time against UCCS, with its lone loss coming last season, 103-100, in double overtime.

ABOUT UNIV. of the SOUTHWEST
University of the Southwest enters the game 1-3 on the season having lost two straight games. The Mustangs went 13-18 last season as part of the Sooner Athletic Conference in NAIA. The Mustangs are led by Ro Lewis’ 19.8 points per game. This is the first career meeting before Tarleton and University of the Southwest.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will stay in Wisdom Gym to take on Jarvis Christian for a non-conference matchup on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
