STEPHENVILLE – The defending Lone Star Conference Tournament champions have announced their schedule for the spring of 2019, which will begin on February 1 at the Houston Winter Invitational at Minute Maid Park.

For the seventh consecutive season, Tarleton will take the field at Minute Maid Park in Houston for the Winter Invitational and the fifth time in those seven trips that the Texans will make their season debut at the home of the Houston Astros. After Houston, Tarleton will make a couple of road trips against regional rivals – soon to be Lone Star Conference rivals beginning in the spring of 2020. The Texans will play three games against St. Mary’s in San Antonio before heading north to Fort Smith, Arkansas for a four-game series with the Lions on Feb. 15-17.

Tarleton will make its home debut on Feb. 22 when the Texans begin a four-game series with UC-Colorado Springs.

Then, Tarleton will turn its attention to league play for the remainder of the season, beginning with three consecutive series against LSC opponents that do not count toward league standings. Tarleton will travel to Angelo State, host Eastern New Mexico, and visit UT Permian Basin for those series.

Conference play will begin in Stephenville on March 22 when the Texans host Cameron. Every series against LSC opponents will be a four-game series with a 1-2-1 format, indicating a single game on Friday and Sunday with a doubleheader on Saturday. All of Tarleton’s home four-game series will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. for Saturday’s doubleheaders, and 1 p.m. for Sunday’s finales. Times and dates are subject to change.

“That’s our schedule,” said head coach Bryan Conger. “We will show up and compete. If we play well enough, important people will put a W next to our name. If we don’t, those same people will put an L next to it. Either way, our goal is to be as good at getting better as we can. That’s all we care about.”

The postseason is set for May 9-11 with the LSC Championship Tournament at the home of the regular season champions. The regional tournament is scheduled for the weekend of May 16-18 and the Division II College World Series will be May 25-June 2 in Cary, North Carolina.

Tarleton Baseball will have live video streams of all home events during the season, as well as live stats. There will be select home series broadcasted on the Tarleton Sports Network on 90.5 FM in Stephenville and online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. Direct links to game day coverage can always be found on the softball schedule page at TarletonSports.com for each individual game as well as on the @TarletonSports social media channels on game days.
