Helen “Cherry” Steward, age 78, passed from this world to her forever heavenly home on December 29, 2018, in Comanche, Texas, where she was surely greeted by loving arms of her husband, Jerry Steward, who preceded her in death on March 14, 2007.

Cherry was born in Snyder, Texas, on June 15, 1940, to Virgil and Helen Adams Jones.  She graduated from Bangs High School in 1958.

On May 23, 1960, she was united in marriage to Jerry Alford Steward in Comanche, Texas.  They celebrated life and love together for 46 years.

Cherry was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law and good friend to all. Cherry loved traveling, yard work, dancing, playing bridge, reading, spending time with family and friends,  and was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Comanche, Texas.  Her smile was infectious, her heart was big as the Texas skies, and she never missed the opportunity to touch the lives of others.   To say she will be missed by family and friends is truly an understatement.

She is survived by two daughters: Paula Turner and husband Eric of Elk Mound, Wisconsin; Malaina Massingill and husband Brandun of Hamilton; five grandchildren:  Stefane Phipps, Nathan Hedrick, Camryn Massingill, Addison Massingill, and Tyler Massingill;  four great grandchildren:  Sawyer Phipps, Wryder Phipps, Nehemiah Hedrick, and Sayble Phipps as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Cherry is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters:  Judith Goates and Anita Hill; husband Jerry Steward.
