The Stephenville City Council will honor the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo with a special proclamation. This year marked the fourth time Stephenville’s rodeo was nominated for the top 5 medium market PRCA rodeos honors.
The proclamation that will be presented by Mayor Doug Svien will declare
January 8, 2019, as Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo Association Appreciation Day.
Proclamation Whereas, Texas is blessed with a rich and colorful history, and no event captures the unique spirit of the Lone Star State better than rodeo; and
Whereas, for five decades rodeo cowboy and cowgirl athletes have been drawn to Stephenville to compete in the official sport of Texas; and
Whereas, Stephenville is home to more World Champions, National Finals Rodeo qualifiers and elite rodeo talent than anywhere in the world; and
Whereas, the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo was organized in 2013 and grown by leaps and bounds; and
Whereas, the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo is a four-time WPRA Justin Best Footing Award Winner; and
Whereas, the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo is a four-time PRCA Medium Size Rodeo of the Year Top 5 Nominee; and
Whereas, the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo committee continues to serve as honorary tourism ambassadors; and
Whereas, the Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo committee does an outstanding job representing Stephenville NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE KNOWN that I Doug Svien, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Stephenville, in the State of Texas, do hereby proclaim January 8, 2019, as Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo Association Appreciation Day in the City of Stephenville and encourage everyone to celebrate their dedication and its impact upon our community.
