McClendon scores 17 as Bees fly past Godley 52-36

The #13 Honeybees just keep buzzing – like a buzz saw!
Sophomore post Alee McClendon had a breakout game with 17 points and Jaci Morton added 12 more as Stephenville moved to 3-0 in District 7-4A with a 52-36 win over Godley’s Lady Wildcats at Gandy Gym Friday night.

It was a tight game in the first half as Stephenville eked out a 14-13 lead heading into the second quarter. The Bees spread the scoring around with Morton scoring four, McClendon and Hannah Bernays popping three, and Kassidy Nowak and Madison Gilder each getting a bucket.

Both team’s defenses took over in the second quarter and the Honeybees were on top 23-21 at half time. After halftime, the Bees went on a tear as their man-to-man defense simply threw Godley’s offense off the rails.
The Bees limited the Lady Wildcats to just four third-quarter points, and at the same time, McClendon was finding her stride inside scoring 12 second-half points.
Morton and Gilder added to Stephenville’s totals with six and five points in the second half, and the Bees simply had an answer for each offensive play Godley unveiled.

Scoring—Madison Gilder 7, Kassidy Nowak 4, Hannah Bernays 10, Jaci Morton 12, Landri Withers 2, Alee McClendon 17.
