After several years of debate and polling opinions, all athletes at Tarleton State University will now be known as Texans with the women’s teams all dropping the name “TexAnns”.
There has been an undercurrent for a while pushing for the change and most major universities like Oklahoma have dropped names like “Lady Sooners” and simply gone with “Sooners”.

The change apparently has come about after a request by three students athletes who approached student government about a change which would drop the name “TexAnns” and move to the term “Texans” to cover all athletic teams.
The move to simply “Texans” will also make sure women’s teams feel included when it comes to the newer terms surrounding sports such as “Texan Nation” etc.
Tarleton is expected to have an official press release Monday regarding the change
