Women’s Basketball looks to build on three straight wins with road trip to San Angelo, Kingsville

THE GAMES
Tarleton will begin the second half of regular season conference play with a road trip to Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville this weekend. The TexAnns (13-5, 6-4 LSC) will put their modest three-game winning streak on the line against No. 20 Angelo State (14-2, 9-1 LSC) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Junell Center in San Angelo. Then they will travel to Kingsville for a 2 p.m. Saturday showdown with the Javelinas (8-9, 5-5 LSC).

PLAY4KAY NATIONAL FREE THROW CHALLENGE
Tarleton Women’s Basketball is taking part in the 2019 National Free Throw Challenge to benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Fans can make a pledge per free throw made during the month of February or a one-time flat donation by visiting https://pledgeit.org/tarletonstateuniversity-play4kay during the month. All proceeds of the Play4Kay National Free Throw Challenge will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

THE LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton put its third straight mark in the win column Saturday afternoon after holding on to a 66-52 win against Western New Mexico on Alumni Weekend in Wisdom Gym. Kaylee Allen led the scoring for Tarleton with 17 points while McKinley Bostad scored 16 of her own. Mackenzie Hailey cracked double digits with 10 points while Katie Webster led the team with 12 rebounds. Webster and Destiney Winkfield each scored seven points while Nina Alvarez (4), Kylie Collins (3), and Hannah Hyde (2) rounded out the scoring.

INSIDE THE SERIES: ANGELO STATE
Tarleton and Angelo State have arguably the richest tradition of any rivalry in program history, which dates to 1977. The TexAnns own a 31-26 advantage in the all-time series, including 10 wins in San Angelo. Tarleton has won eight of the last 11 meetings.

INSIDE THE SERIES: TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE
Tarleton and Texas A&M-Kingsville have met 49 times in their history, which dates to 1986. Tarleton owns a 31-18 lead over the Javelinas all-time, including a 13-8 edge in Kingsville. Tarleton has won 19 straight against the Javelinas, including 10 straight since Misty Wilson took over as head coach in 2014.
