FLASH STAFF REPORT
ERATH COUNTY (January 8, 2019) – Local law enforcement officers were involved in a pursuit Thursday night.
According to a release from Erath County Sheriff Matt Coates, “in the late hours of February 7, a deputy with the Erath County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol on US Hwy 281 North when the deputy observed a vehicle fail to dim their lights to oncoming traffic. The deputy turned on the vehicle to investigate the situation when the driver of the vehicle accelerated in speed. The deputy activated their emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.”
That pursuit continued for several counties. Reports indicate the driver went from FM 1188/1189 in Erath County through Lipan in Hood County where the driver was “able to evade the deputy.” Texas Highway Patrol Troopers reported locating the suspect vehicle in Hood County, but the driver still would not stop. The troopers chased the vehicle from Hood County into Parker County where the driver again evaded officers.
Coates reported the vehicle was a dark in color possibly green truck and the driver was not identified. If anyone has any information on the driver or the vehicle, please contact the Erath County Sheriff’s Office at (254) 965-3318.
