STEPHENVILLE – Mackenzie Hailey has won her fourth career Player of the Week award from the Lone Star Conference after taking home the defensive honor Tuesday afternoon.
This is Hailey’s fourth career weekly honor from the conference, including the third defensive.
Hailey was dominant in leading Tarleton to back-to-back victories over MSU Texas, who entered the game fresh off upsets of No. 14 West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico, and Cameron. The junior from Burleson recorded double-doubles in both games, averaging 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game – including a 20-point, 12-rebound performance in helping lead a second-half comeback against Cameron Saturday afternoon.
With Hailey anchoring the team defense, Tarleton held MSU Texas and Cameron to a combine .333 shooting percentage from the floor and 58.5 points per game. For the week, Hailey also added four assists, four blocks, and four steals.
