STEPHENVILLE – Jesse Hill has been named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career after leading Tarleton to a 2-0 week.

Hill led the Texan defense with six blocks in two games to go with averaging 14 points on 63 percent shooting, 7.5 rebounds and a pair of steals in wins over MSU Texas and Cameron. Hill opened the week with 18 points, seven rebounds, a block and a steal in a win over MSU Texas. Hill had 10 points on 5-5 shooting and four rebounds in the second half against the Mustangs to hold on to the win.

The senior from Waretown, New Jersey followed with game-saving defense against Cameron, blocking five shots and grabbing seven rebounds in the second half to bring the Texans back from a six-point halftime deficit for a 75-65 win. Hill finished the game with 10 points, eight rebounds, a career-high five blocks and a steal. Hill’s rim protection limited the Aggies to just 22 percent shooting and only 26 points in the second half.
