Texans drop series opener at Angelo State

SAN ANGELO – Tarleton suffered a 14-1 loss in seven innings in the opening game of this weekend’s four-game series at Angelo State. These four games do not count towards the Lone Star Conference standings.

Angelo State got the scoring started with one in the first and third and three in the second to build a 5-0 lead after three. The Rams added eight in the fourth and one in the sixth while Tarleton managed one run on a Blake Burns RBI single in the sixth.

Burns led the team with two hits and an RBI while Nate Sumner, Tyler Fowler, Jake Spence, Jon Law, and Dexter Pruitt had one hit each to round out the offense. Zach Svensson, Case Rolen, and Mitchell combined for six innings of work on the mound.
