Fredricksburg did something no other team has done this year against the Yellow Jackets baseball team but even seven runs weren’t enough to top Stephenville in a 7-7 complete game tie at the Wimberly Tournament Friday.
Stephenville scored three runs in the top of the final inning to secure the tie that relief pitcher Caleb Smith assured by pitching a hitless seventh.
Starter Daniel Luna struggled a little with his control as he threw 42 pitches for strikes against 40 balls. Luna did strike out three batters over 4.2 innings of work while giving up three earned runs, eight hits and facing 27 batters.
Derek Gifford led the Jackets’ RBI department with three runs scored off his double. Luna also doubled and drove in a run. Cody Storrs had a game-high three runs scored.
