Tarleton Golf climbs three spots on the final day of the Mustang Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Tarleton Golf moved up three spots on the final day of the Mustang Intercollegiate to finish in 18th place and close out the regular season schedule.

The TexAnns improved their score by 16 strokes, finishing with rounds of 322 and 306 for a total score of 628 (+52) at the Palm Valley Golf Club. West Texas A&M won the two-day tournament with a 583 (+7). Overall, Tarleton had 78 pars and 12 birdies between its four players.

Casey Leatherman was the top finisher for the TexAnns, carding rounds of 77-79—156 (+12) to tie for 55th. Leatherman tied for third among all players with 25 pars while adding a birdie.

Sophie Caldon climbed 24 spots on the individual leaderboard to tie for 63rd after improving by seven strokes. Caldon had rounds of 82-75—157 (+13). Raelynn Hardgrave also tied for 63rd with a 78-79—157 (+13).

Breanna Smith had the biggest individual jump of the day, moving up 30 spots and improving her scorecard by 12 strokes to finish with a 158 (+14). Smith shot a 73 (+1) on the final day to lead the TexAnns.

Tarleton will now compete at the Lone Star Conference championships looking for its fourth straight conference title. The tournament will be held in Abilene at the Diamondback Golf Club on April 22-23.
