STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton suffered a 12-1 loss to Angelo State in the first game of the four-game series at the Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex Thursday.
Angelo State built a 7-0 lead over the first three innings before the Texans got on the board in the bottom of the third on an RBI groundout from Blake Burns. Tarleton could get no closer, however, and Angelo State extended the lead with five more unanswered runs.
Tarleton recorded five hits offensively, including two from Sam Scarborough. Tyler Fowler, Jake Spence, and Jon Law had one each. Ty Jones, Michael Pilato, and Case Rolen combined for the work on the mound.
The teams will return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader with the Rams. There will be dippin’ dots and free hots for fans at the stadium.
