Honeybee Mini Camp brings out the smiles for miles

Forgive Coach Alan Thorpe for smiling at this time of the year because this is when his Honeybee basketball team finds out what it’s like to grab the reins and control a team of youngsters.

“I always enjoy this camp because the girls are in charge and they are running the drills,” Thorpe said. “Now they get a chance to see what we as coaches go through.”

This week’s K-4 camp gives area youngsters a chance to rub elbows with their heroes and to learn skills they can use next season. By day three (Thursday) of the camp, the Honeybees were indeed in command of the situation and the ladies were impressive as they moved their groups and ran drills.
Even more impressive was how the campers hung on the Bees’ every word and did as they were told without hesitation.
The Stephenville ISD currently has nine camps in addition to the summer conditioning program for upcoming athletes this year. Here is a list of information on camps and registration. More Camper photos are below
