STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton men’s basketball head coach Chris Reisman has announced his schedule for the 2019-20 season with the Texans opening on the road for the RMAC/LSC Challenge.

This season, Tarleton will play a 28-game schedule, including 15 home games, 11 road games and two neutral site games at the season-opening tournament. The schedule features six non-conference games and 22 Lone Star Conference matchups with the merging of the Heartland Conference and LSC.

The Texans will travel to Fort Smith, Arkansas to play in the RMAC/LSC Challenge on Nov. 9 and 10 against Metro State and Black Hills State of the RMAC. It’s the second straight season the Texans have opened up the regular season on the road.

The LSC will be split into three divisions, with Tarleton’s division featuring Dallas Baptist, St. Edward’s, St. Mary’s, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Texas A&M International. The Texans will play a home-and-home schedule with each team in its division and then play the rest of the conference once and alternate locations on a year-to-year basis.

“We are looking forward to this year’s schedule which brings not only a challenging non-conference but also a new-look Lone Star Conference that will be the toughest and now largest conference in the country,” said second-year head coach Chris Reisman. “It should be an exciting season for our fans to get to be a part of a 22-game conference schedule that will feature some new and old rivalries with the expansion of the league.”

The rest of the non-conference schedule includes three home games against Division II Oklahoma schools that count as regional games. The Texans will host Oklahoma Baptist on Nov. 14, Northeastern State on Nov. 23 and Northwestern Oklahoma State on Nov. 27. The Texans will also host Champion Christian on New Year’s Eve.

Lone Star Conference action begins on Dec. 5 when the Texans travel to Angelo State. After a game at Lubbock Christian on Dec. 14, the Texans will return home for five straight home games from Dec. 19 – Jan. 4. From there, the Texans will alternate weeks of home and road games through the rest of the season.

The non-divisional conference home games will be against UT-Tyler (Dec. 19), Texas A&M-Commerce (Dec. 21), UT Permian Basin (Jan. 16), Western New Mexico (Jan. 18), Midwestern State (Feb. 6), and Cameron (Feb. 8). Non-divisional conference road games will be at Angelo State and Lubbock Christian, followed by Oklahoma Christian (Jan. 9), Arkansas-Fort Smith (Jan. 11), West Texas A&M (Feb. 13), and Eastern New Mexico (Feb. 15).

The Lone Star Conference Tournament returns to Frisco from March 5-8 at the Comerica Center.

Tarleton is coming off a 21-10 season where they went 10-8 in the LSC and advanced to the LSC tournament semifinals. It was the eighth 20-win season in the last nine seasons for the Texans.

“This is probably one of our more difficult schedules in my time at Tarleton and we look forward to the challenge,” said Reisman.
