BURIAL:  Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche

VISITATION:   Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, 2019, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Benny Brooks, age 76, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019, in Comanche County, Texas.

He was born on April 9, 1943, in Seymour, Texas, to John and Carrie Oletha (Murray) Brooks. On May 14, 1966, he was united in marriage to Melva Jean Martin in Mineral Wells, Texas.  She preceded him in death on August 20, 2016.  He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Benny was an auto mechanic.  For many years he worked at Chrysler Dealers in Mineral Wells and was a self-employed auto mechanic for ten years.  After moving to Comanche, he worked for Camon Martin and, for many years, worked at Tom & Ollie’s.  He had many interests and hobbies – he was a collector of arrowheads and Indian Artifacts, was an avid fisherman, a long-time member of the Bass Club, and he rebuilt classic cars.  Benny was a Baptist.

He is survived by his son, Ben Brooks and Teresa Moore of Fort Worth, grandsons, Colby Brooks and wife Kelly of Argyle, and Connor Brooks of College Station; granddaughters, Piper Brooks of Fort Worth and Ashtyn Brooks of Comanche; great-grandson Barret Brooks of Argyle; sister, Barbara Martin of Santa Fe, Texas and Bonnie Price and Norman McCoy of Dublin; brother, Jimmy Brooks and wife Gloria of Millsap; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Cheryl Suzanne Brooks; brothers, James Brooks and John Brooks; and sister, Linda Patterson.
