A Plano man arrested following triple homicide in Comanche County

An area family is in shock following the horrific discovery of three victims in a home on Highway 2921 in the Oliver Springs Community in northern Comanche County. Sheriff Chris Pounds announced late Saturday, July 25, his department had Brendan Jenkins, 22 of Plano, in custody for capital murder.

According to official reports, a 911 call came into dispatchers Saturday morning and the caller advised there were three deceased individuals at a location in the 2900 block of Hwy. 2921. The caller admitted to the dispatched he had shot all three. 

DeLeon PD, Comanche County Sheriff’s Office and Texas DPS troopers were dispatched to the home where they located three victims, all members of the same family, and the shooter, who was immediately taken into custody. First responders were able to immediately locate Earl Stephens III, 63, and his granddaughter, Ashlyn Smith, 18, who were found deceased and a third victim, Patricia Stephens, 62, who was transported by helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital Fort Worth where she succumbed to her injuries. 

A Capital Murder warrant has been sought for Jenkins, who is currently in the Comanche County Jail and will face a judge on Monday morning. In a combined effort the Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Ranger Division are working together to complete the investigation. 

The families of the victims are still in shock and are heartbroken beyond belief, according to a close family friend. In their statement to the public, the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office extended thoughts and prayers to the families affected by this appalling event and ask the community to respect and support them in their time of grief.
