Bees top Gatesville in a sweep

It wasn’t as pretty as Coach Shay Douglas would have liked but winning ugly is always better than a pretty loss as Stephenville topped Gatesville at Gandy Gym in a 25-17, 25-23, 25-15 win Friday.
The Bees (21-4, 4-1) looked a little unsteady, much like a fighter who has suffered a hard headshot after Stephenville took one to the gut Tuesday in a shocking road loss to Brownwood.
Yes, it was shocking because nobody expected the No 12 Bees to be challenged in District 6-4A, and suddenly Stephenville is in second place at 4-1, and the Lady Lions are 5-0.
The Bees will need to stay undefeated and will need to mount a vigorous defense when the Lady Lions come to town Oct. 23. A win by Stephenville would force a tie-breaker for the district title and seeding for the playoffs.
The JV Bees were 25-12, 25-19 winners and freshmen beat Gatesville 25-20, 18-25, 25-20
