Alee McClendon led all scorers with 22 points, and the Honeybees jumped out to a 20-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back, disposing of Azle 56-35 Monday afternoon at Gandy Gymnasium.
Stephenville started fast, building a 13-point lead with a suffocating defense that forced numerous Lady Hornet turnovers. Azle would cut it to 12, 27-15 at the half, but the Bees went on an 11-3 run to start the 3rd and finished the quarter up 46-26. Stephenville would outscore Azle 10-9 in the 4th to make the final 56-35.
Behind McClendon’s 22, eight other Honeybees joined the scoring column with Landri Withers scoring 9, Trysten Monk 6, Jaylee Matthews and Jade Wilson each with 5, Seren Fowler with 3, and Kennedy Coffee, Mya Wilson, and Mya Wesley each with 2.
With the win, the Bees move to 11-1 overall and will be off until December 29, when they will travel to Alvarado to take on the Lady Indians at 12:30 pm.
