Stephenville improved to 2-1 in District 6-4A play with a 56-43 over Brownwood, and with the victory, the Jackets stand alone in second place in league play behind Glen Rose.
The Jackets (14-5 overall) jumped out to an 18-10 first-quarter lead. Tanner McCailey nailed a pair of three-pointers, Brady Morton added another, and Kyle Styron, Grayson Traweek, and Kallen Kimbrough all got in on the offensive action.
In the second frame, Traweek opened up from long range with a pair of treys, Kelvin Ong added four points, and Aiden Espinoza scored under the bucket.

Graywon Traweek netted 16 points against Brownwood.

Brownwood battled to keep it close as the Lions crept to four points at the half 31-27.
Defense dominated the second half, and neither team benefitted at the free-throw line as the Jackets only got four trips to the charity stripe over the final 16 minutes. The Lions only got two trips to the lone themselves as Stephenville only committed 15 total fouls.
Limiting the Lions to just 16 second-half points socked the game away for Stephenville. The Jackets have a bye Friday and will host first-place Glen Rose on January 26 in a 7:30 p.m. game.
Leading the Jackets scoring against Brownwood was Traweek with 16 points while Espinoza, Kimbrough and Styron had 7, Ong and McCailey 6, and Coy Eakin 2.
