SENIOR NIGHT: Jackets bulldoze Hornets 82-34 behind Traweek’s 20 points

Stephenville’s senior night was highlighted, with every player on the roster scoring. The Yellow Jackets lifted their season record to 15-7, and 3-3 District 6-4A play with an 82-34 win over Gatesville Tuesday Gandy Gym.

The Jackets took command early as Jason Traweek scored six straight points, and Stephenville raced out to a 19-6 lead as the defense smothered the Hornets’ offensive efforts all night long. Kyle Styron matched Traweek’s efforts six points of his own, and Tanner McCailey, Coy Eakin, Kelvin Ong, and Kallan Kimbrough also got in on the action.

Sophomore Ryder Lambert started his varsity career with a double-figure night as he scored 11 points.

Sophomore Ryder Lambert has been fine-tuning his game on the junior varsity following a hand injury suffered during the football season and made an immediate impact by nailing a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter.
Traweek also pumped in a pair of treys in the quarter, and Brady Morton added another as the Yellow Jackets scored 27 points in the frame, and Stephenville led 46-8 at the half.
Coach Kia McCarty could substitute freely throughout the second half, and Trace Morrison, Adrian Fletcher, Hayden Hoelscher, and Remington Pack continued Stephenville’s attack.

Traweek led all scorers with 20 points while Lambert had 11, Styron 10, Morton 8, Morrison and Kimbrough 6, McCailey 5, Hoelscher and Eakin 4, Fletcher 2, Pack 1.
Stephenville will be finishing out the season and determining its route to the playoffs. The Jackets travel to Brownwood Friday and have a by the following Tuesday before finishing the regular season at Glen Rose on February 12.
