RIVERSIDE – A pitcher’s duel to begin the game left both team scoreless for the first three innings, but timely hits by California Baptist boosted them to the game one win over the Texans.

The Texans got one across in the 5th and the 8th but couldn’t plate anymore as the Lancers capitalized in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th. A three-run homer in the 6th is what sealed the deal for California Baptists 6-2 win.

Tarleton recorded seven hits tonight with each hit coming from a different Texan. Bloom had the biggest hit of the night with a solo homer in the top of the 5th. The Texans second run of the night came in the 8th off of a double from Blake Burns that plated Tyler Fowler. The double from Burns was one of four doubles tonight for the Texans.

Dean Frew recorded the only stolen base tonight.

Two Texans saw the mound tonight with Alex Pinedo getting the start and pitching three scoreless innings to begin the game. He went 6.0 inning total with eight strikeouts, allowing eight hits and five runs. Zach Gagnon closed it out on the mound tonight going 2.0 innings while only allowing one run.

The Texans continue their series with the Lancers tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. CT.
