Texans fall in Friday twin bill, look for series split tomorrow

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton dropped two today as Dixie State answers for their loss in game one. Texans look to pick up series spit in tomorrow series finale.

Game 1: Dixie State 5, Tarleton 1

Game one of today’s doubleheader didn’t have much go the Texans way in a 5-1 loss to Dixie State to even the series at 1-1.

Tarleton recorded no hits as Dixie State starter Jimmy Borzone threw a complete game no hitter. London Green recorded the only walk today as Wade Raburn, Dean Frew and Blake Burns all reached via hit by pitch. The only run that came across for the Texans today was on a sacrifice fly from Kemuel Thomas-Rivera.

Game 2: Dixie State 7, Tarleton 4

Tarleton battled back in game two after finding themselves down 4-0 after the first inning. The Trailblazers strung together three more one run innings to secure their lead as the Texans were only able to plate four runs throughout the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings.

The Texans found their bats in game two after a no hit first game outhitting the Trailblazers 11 to 9 but couldn’t get as many runs across. Each of the starting nine batters each recorded a hit today with Raburn and Burns each recording two. Ian Groves and Tyler Fowler each recorded solo homers in back-to-back innings while the two-run 5th inning recorded runs from a passed ball and an RBI single from Bryan Aguilar.

Justin Waltmon and Hunter Thomas tied for a game high 4 strikeouts each.

The Texans close out the series with the Trailblazers tomorrow at 11 a.m. as they look to split the series.
