STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton Softball gears up for its second season of competition in the Western Athletic Conference with the announcement of its full spring campaign that begins on February 11 in Greenville, South Carolina.

“We’re excited about the schedule we have this year,” said head coach Mark Cumpian. “Last year was a learning experience for the players and coaches. We scheduled some of the best teams this country has to offer and saw what it takes to compete at an elite level. Our team showed flashes of being able to rise to that challenge and we’ve added some players in key roles that will help us take the next step. I’m excited to take the field with this group of young ladies and get this program back where it belongs – competing among the top of our conference.”

Tarleton will open the season with three, five-game tournaments including one at home for the first time since 2014. The Texans will open the season on Feb. 11 at the Furman Tournament in South Carolina at 8 a.m. CST against Bellarmine, who is also in its second season of NCAA Division I play. The following weekend, Tarleton will debut its new turf facility under LED lights against Syracuse in the Texan Invitational on February 18 at 5 p.m.

After a weekend at the Lobo Classic in New Mexico, Tarleton will begin series play over the final two months of the season. The Texans will host Texas Southern for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on March 1 to start the non-tournament side of the schedule and then a weekend series against McNeese before WAC play gets started.

With the expansion of the WAC, Tarleton will play home-and-home weekend series against division rivals Abilene Christian, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin and Lamar to compromise its conference slate. The home weekend series will be a 2-1 format with a Friday night doubleheader and a single game on Saturday. Dates and times are subject to change.

Sprinkled between the conference series are midweek showdowns with Prairie View A&M, Baylor, UTEP, and North Texas. The UTEP doubleheader on March 30 is scheduled for Stephenville.

Full season general admission passes for Tarleton Softball are available now at TarletonSports.com/tickets. The year-long pass grants general admission entry to all home games for a price of $75. Fans under five years old are admitted free.
