George Frederick Kimbel died February 4, 2022 in Dallas, Texas.

Fred was born in 1938 in Tazewell, Virginia, to parents Oscar George and Ella (Vance) Kimbel. After high school Fred entered the United States Marine Corps where he played tuba in the Marine band. After leaving the Marines, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Texas, Louisiana, Hawaii, and Tennessee. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1964, he worked as a computer programmer and entrepreneur. He enjoyed being a member at the Elds Lodge, where he met his wife, Carol Moran Kimbel

Fred enjoyed golf and could—and often did—make a meal out of just cookies and ice cream. You could always count on him to have a well maintained + clean pickup and meticulously cared for shoes. Over his lifetime he cultivated quite the collection of pocket knives, watches and clocks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Moran Kimbel. He is survived by his two children, Janna Daniels and James Kimbel and their spouses Bill Daniels and Darren Carpenter; by his stepson, Michael Moran; by his former wife and mother of his children, Janice Pack; his grandchildren, Jalesa Jones, Jillian Zamora, Jacob Daniels and Jayce Frederick (named for his grandpa) Daniels; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Willie Mae Doyle of Deloit, Kansas; his brother, Robin Kimbel of Richmond, Virginia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His children would like to thank his many friends for their kind words, especially his long-time friend, Jerry Wood.
