The Hico Lady Tigers (10-7) faced a familiar foe for the 2A Regional Semifinals – the district winning Tolar Lady Rattlers (22-7). Over the weekend, Hico lost Game 1 of the match up against Tolar, 14-5. And most in Tolar were expecting a two-game win, since both district match ups went in Tolar’s favor.
However, that was not meant to be as the Lady Tigers roared by on Monday, May 16, by winning Game 2 of the match up, 4-2, which forced a Game 3 immediately following Game 2. And Hico was ready with a somewhat dominant performance, winning, 7-3, to claim the 2A UIL State Quarterfinals Championship.
The Lady Tigers are moving on to the Regional Semifinals against the Axtell Lady Longhorns (23-9) at Cleburne High School. Once again, this will be a best of three match up. Game 1 will be Friday, May 20, at 6 p.m. Game 2 will be Saturday, May 21, at 12 noon. If a Game 3 is needed, it will begin 30 minutes after the end of Game 2.
