STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton volleyball is gearing up for its return to the court with the release of its complete 2022 schedule.

The Texans will face 28 teams across a 29-match regular season schedule. Tarleton is set to compete inside the friendly confines of Wisdom Gym 14 times, beginning with consecutive home tournaments. The program will play 15 nonconference matches before transitioning to a 14-game round robin schedule in the expanded Western Athletic Conference.

Tarleton begins its season in Stephenville on Aug. 26-27 with the Texan Invitational. The Texans will host Farleigh Dickinson and Northwestern State on the first day of the tournament before closing out the two-day affair vs. Louisiana Monroe.

The Texans then head to Lubbock to square off with Texas Tech on Aug. 30. Texas Tech will be the lone Power Five opponent that Tarleton will see in 2022. The schools met for the first time on the volleyball court during the spring 2021 season in Stephenville, with Texas Tech claiming a 3-1 victory.

Following the midweek match with the Red Raiders, the Texans return home for the Pam Littleton Classic, which runs from Sept. 2-3. The tournament field features Tennessee State, Southeastern Louisiana and Prairie View A&M. Tarleton draws Tennessee State and Southeastern Louisiana on Sept. 2 and wraps up the tournament vs. Prairie View A&M on Sept. 3.

Tarleton will then leave its home state twice for its remaining nonconference tournaments.

The Texans first head to the Sunshine State on Sept. 9-10 for the Jacksonville University Tournament for a three-game sequence vs. the host Dolphins, Florida Atlantic and Idaho.

A trip to Greeley, Colorado on Sept. 15-17 for the Northern Colorado Tournament next greets Tarleton. The Texans draw host Northern Colorado on Thursday, then face Santa Clara and Cal Poly on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

The visit to Colorado marks the end of tournament play and catapults Tarleton into WAC action.

The Texans will host Abilene Christian, Stephen F. Austin, UT-Arlington (UTA), Grand Canyon, California Baptist, Utah Valley and Seattle University from September-October as a part of its conference slate.

Sprinkled in between the home pairings are road trips to face Incarnate Word, Lamar, New Mexico State, Utah Tech, UTRGV, Sam Houston and Southern Utah.

Southern Utah, Incarnate Word and UTA are set to join the conference on July 1.

Tarleton also has a home-and-home scheduled with former Lone Star Conference rival Texas A&M-Commerce. The teams first meet in Commerce on Sept. 27 before the Lions return the trip to the Cowboy Capital on Aug. 11. Texas A&M-Commerce is entering its first season at the NCAA Division I level and Southland Conference. Tarleton owns a 23-21 edge in the all-time series vs. Texas A&M-Commerce and is 14-5 at home vs. the Lions.

The Texans are now eligible to participate in all WAC postseason championships as previously announced on June 10. The WAC Volleyball Tournament runs from Nov. 17-19 on the campus of UTRGV in Edinburg. The top eight teams advance to the WAC Tournament. The winner earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Each home match will air on ESPN+. All WAC home matches will be played at either 6 p.m. CT on Thursdays or 1 p.m. CT on Saturdays.

Start times for both home tournaments will be announced at a later date.
