Minnie M. Hill, age 88, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022.

Minnie was born near Eden, Mississippi January 9, 1934, to John William Waterer, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Davis Waterer. She attended Eden Consolidated School through grade eight and graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1952. Minnie entered Kings Daughters School of Nursing in Greenville, Mississippi, graduating in 1955. While at Kings Daughters she was trained in Obstetrics and Pediatrics at City Hospital and Psychiatry at Malcolm Bliss Psychiatric Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from nursing school, she worked one year in surgery at Kings Daughters before moving to Memphis, Tennessee to work at the V.A. Hospital for two and a half years. Minnie joined the Air Force as a First Lieutenant at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio for work in critical care. After a year, she was transferred to Burderop Air Force Base in Swindon, England. After her Air Force tour, she moved to San Francisco, California, working in various hospitals. Minnie returned to Texas for a position in OB/ Labor & Delivery and Emergency. While at Methodist Hospital in Houston, she met Dr. William A. “Bill” Hill and married. They moved to Comanche in 1969 and started parttime nursing in DeLeon and later to fulltime nursing in Emergency and Critical Care before retiring in 1999.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, William A. Hill, Sr. and a brother, John William Waterer, Jr.

Survivors include sons, Craig Hill and fiancee, Claire Saunders, and Bill Hill, Jr. both of Comanche and Charles Hill of Coral Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Wyatt Hill of Conroe, Texas, Mason Hill of Nashville, Tennessee and Taylor Hill of Tyler, Texas.

Service Information

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, in the Eastlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Early.
