The Stephenville Yellow Jackets (6-0) coming off their bye week and ready to kick off District 5, 4A play against Waxahachie Life (2-4, 0-1) at Tarleton’s Memorial Stadium in Stephenville on Friday, October 14, at 7 p.m. The Yellow Jackets, who are the 2021 State 4A Champions, are currently ranked No. 1 in the State in 4A by Texas High School Football and MaxPreps. Stephenville shares a district with the No. 2 team in the state, China Spring (6-1, 1-0), who the Jackets will face next week at the Cougar Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

The Dublin Lions (2-4, 0-1) are at home this week. The Lions will host the Millsap Bulldogs (3-3, 0-1) in the Bob and Norman Cervetto Field at 7 p.m. on Friday. Dublin currently sits in fifth place in district play and are hoping to turn their luck around by defeating the fourth place team. The Lions kicked off District 5, 3A play last week with a 51-25 loss to the Merkel Badgers (2-4, 1-0).

Hico football is on the road this week in what could be the toughest district in 2A. The Hico Tigers (2-5, 1-2) are headed to Dawson to face the Bulldogs (6-0, 2-0) at 7 p.m. on Friday. Hico is coming off another hard loss last week to the Wortham Bulldogs, 62-7. The Tigers are currently sitting in fourth place in District 10, 2A. First place is undefeated No. 1 Mart (7-0, 3-0), followed by undefeated in district play Wortham (6-1, 3-0) and Dawson is in third place.

The Bluff Dale Bobcats (6-1) are headed to Iredell on Friday to take on the Dragons (3-4) at 7 p.m. for their first game of District 12, 1A play. Bluff Dale beat the Newcastle Bobcats (3-3), 86-78, in a hard-fought battle last week. The Bobcats are coming into the matchup with Iredell on a three-game winning streak and currently sit in first place in their district.

The Lingleville HS Cardinals (4-2, 0-1) will be hosting the Baird Bears (3-3, 0-1) this week and are looking to recover after a frustrating 46-48 loss to the Bryson Cowboys (3-3, 1-0) last week. The Cards went toe-to-toe with Bryson to kick off district play. The Cowboys are ranked third in District 9, 1A, behind undefeated Gordon (6-0) and Perrin-Whitt (3-3), while Lingleville currently sits in fifth in the same district. Now, Lingleville will take on Baird, who is ranked fourth. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Lingleville HS field.

Three Way Braves (1-5, 0-1) are idle this week as they prepare for the Blum Bobcats (3-4, 1-0) on Friday, Oct. 21. Last week the Braves kicked off District 11, 1A play against the Milford Bulldogs (3-2, 1-0), but lost a tough game, 56-0. The win over Three Way put the Bulldogs at first in district, followed by Blum. The Braves are currently fourth and will face Blum in two weeks.

The Stephenville FAITH Knights (5-2, 1-1) are fired up for this week’s matchup against the BVCHEA HomeSchool (Bryan) Mustangs (4-3, 1-1) following a hard-fought loss last week. The Knights played against the Lubbock Titans (2-5, 1-0) on Saturday, and while FAITH kept it closer than the score would imply, the Titans came out ahead, 63-36. The Knights look to change their fate with a big win over the Mustangs on Friday night, October 14, in Morgan Mill. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
