April 29, 1943 ~ October 15, 2022 (age 79)

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, Monty Louis “Papa” Neeb, age 79, crossed the gates of glory to be with Jesus Christ and a host of family and friends who had passed before him.

Monty was born in Santa Anna, TX, on April 29, 1943, to Howard Wilson and Lois Theola Payne Neeb. He was a graduate of Cross Plains High School, class of 1961. During the Vietnam War, he served his country in the Air Force, repairing jet engines in Thailand.

Monty married Louise Estelle Bloomingdale on October 26, 1968, in Redlands, CA. Following his service to his country, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Entomology from Texas Tech University in 1970. He was hired as an Ag Specialist for Union Carbide in 1971. He continued that role with Rhone-Poulenc Ag Company, Aventis Crop Science and then Bayer Crop Science until his retirement.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo, TX. Prior to moving to Amarillo, he was a long-time resident of Stephenville, Texas, and an active member of First Baptist Church Stephenville. Monty’s faith in God was the most important thing in his life, but his family was a close second. He loved singing and was a member of the church choirs in Ruidoso, NM, and Stephenville, TX. He loved to hunt and fish, and he had a passion for farming, gardening, and anything outdoors.

Monty is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lou Neeb of Amarillo, TX; children, Amy Norman and husband, Blake, of Midlothian, TX, Andrew Neeb and wife, Leska, of Amarillo, TX, and Robert Neeb and wife, Natalie, of Helotes, TX; his grandchildren, Greg Norman, Carson Norman, Abby Neeb, Cora Neeb, Ella Neeb, John Neeb, Jazz Neeb, and J.R. Neeb; sisters-in- law, Cheryl Neeb of Lubbock, TX, and Anita Hittle of Ruidoso, NM; brother-in-law, Robert Bloomingdale of Banning, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service for Monty will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 24, 2022, at the Lacy Funeral Home Chapel, 1380 N. Harbin Drive, Stephenville, TX, with Rev. Dick Carroll officiating. Private interment will be on Tuesday morning at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Lacy Funeral Home.
