(June 14, 1962 – October 15, 2022)

Carl Volleman was born to Bernard and Maria Volleman on June 14, 1962 in Hulst, Netherlands. After a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer, his life was cut too short on October 15, 2022. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family in Gustine, Texas.

Carl spent his childhood and early adulthood living in Luxembourg on his family dairy farm, along with his twin sister, Caroline, and his two brothers, Frank and Marcel. Before starting his own career as a dairy farmer, he traveled abroad to places including Great Britain, Italy, Germany, France, and Thailand while working for Goodyear Tire. He married Engeline Logtenberg in 1990, and together they had three children- Linda, John, and Joyce. They moved to Texas in 1999 to continue to grow their dairy farm and farmed together until 2013. Carl continued to honor his love for farming through 2020 as he managed operations working for his friend Frank Brand. Carl became a proud United States citizen in 2018. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dublin, TX for 23 years and a dedicated 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus.

We will always remember Carl’s childlike spirit, often surprising humor, and the little (sometimes unconventional) ways he regularly showed us his love. Carl’s memory is one we hope to keep alive through the simple things he cherished: drinking a morning cup of coffee, listening to an Eagles song, or busting a move on the dance floor.

Carl is survived by his partner Zandra Ossa-Mendez, his children Linda Volleman and partner Jesse Medina, John and wife Amanda Volleman, and Joyce Volleman, parents Bernard and Maria Volleman, twin sister Caroline and her husband George Weber, younger brother Frank and his wife Annette Volleman, and youngest brother Marcel Volleman, niece Isabelle Weber, nephews Benjamin Volleman, David and wife Anna Volleman and children Pax and Emma, Andrew and wife Shelby Volleman and children Hayes and Noah, and Daniel Volleman and fiancé Mackenzie Wright among many other family members and friends whom he held dear.

A visitation beginning with a rosary prayer will be held on Tuesday, October 18th from 6-8pm at Harrell Funeral Home in Dublin, TX. Funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 19th at 10am, followed by a gravesite service at Erath Gardens of Memory.

Carl’s wish was to help further research for other cancer patients; if your heart calls to donate to MD Anderson, please use this link to give a donation in his memory. https://www.mdanderson.org/donors-volunteers/donate.html Alternatively, flowers can be sent to Harrell Funeral Home.
