STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton volleyball head coach Mary Schindler announced Friday the signing of three student-athletes and the addition of one more, all from the high school ranks, for the class of 2023.

“I am extremely excited about this group of athletes we added,” said Schindler. “They are all impressive athletes that I believe will be big contributors for our team. They are competitors on the court, but I also believe will add to the culture of this program in numerous ways.”

Below is a look at the four newest additions to Texan volleyball.

Sydney Garrison • Outside Hitter • Aubrey, TX (Aubrey HS)
Garrison, an outside hitter, makes her way to Stephenville by way of Aubrey High School where she has amassed over 2,000 career kills and in 2021 was named the district 9-4A MVP. In 2022, she has landed 5.5 kills per set to go with a .308 hitting percentage, 54 total blocks, and 577 kills.  At the end of the 2020-21 season, Garrison was named to the TGCA All-State team as well as being the district 9-4A hitter of the year. At the time of this release, Garrison and the Lady Chaps are playing in the regional tournament, the fourth round of the Texas 4A playoffs.

“Sydney is a six-rotation kid who plays with confidence and has proven she is a winner,” said Schindler. “She competes hard and has the ability to terminate as well as defend.”

Maddie Frank • Middle Blocker • Aledo, TX (Aledo HS)
Frank will don the purple and white following a stellar career as an Aledo Ladycat. The list of honors does not run short for Frank coming off her senior season, as she was named to the AVCA All-American watch list in August, AVCA’s best and brightest list in October, the AVCA All-Region team in November and a 5-5A first team All-district selection in November. This season, Frank hit .454 and led Aledo with 94 total blocks.

“Maddie is a great get for us,” said Schindler. “She is an athlete and will be a huge asset at the net. I love her court presence and look forward to watching her excel on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.”

Carly Lange • DS/Libero • Bellville, TX (Bellville HS)
Lange comes from Bellville where the Brahmanettes have seen unprecedented success over her four years with the squad. This season they are playing in the Region IV championship as they went 38-10 overall and 12-0 in district and last season they advanced all the way to the state semifinal match.

Lange was named a 2021 first team all-state member as well as being a TGCA All Star last summer. She holds the Bellville High School record for digs as she passed the 2,000-dig mark earlier this season.

“Carly is a firecracker defender and will immediately impact our team,” said Schindler. “She contributes a solid platform in serve receive and a fierceness on defense.”

Faith Wilkins • Right Side Hitter • The Woodlands, TX (Concordia Lutheran HS)
Wilkins comes to Tarleton as the lone newcomer from the Houston area where she has been a standout for Concordia Lutheran. This season she led the Crusaders to a 33-16 overall record and a 9-3 district mark. She hit at a .306 clip and rejected 70 attacks this season. Wilkins was named as a 2021-2022 TAPPS 6A second team all-district selection.

“Faith is a dynamic right-side hitter who will score off one leg,” said Schindler. “She can run a fast offense out of the middle as well. We can’t wait to get her here!”
