September 22, 1932 ~ March 29, 2023 (age 90)

Sue Carol Dunn, 90, of Stephenville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 2:00pm, at the First United Methodist Church in Stephenville. A reception with the family will follow at the Fellowship Hall immediately after the service.

Sue was born on September 22, 1932 in Mercedes, Texas to the late Paul and Merle Thompson. She married John Patterson Dunn on December 23, 1954 in Weslaco, Texas and together they had three children. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2011. Sue graduated from Weslaco High School in 1951 and earned her bachelor’s degree from North Texas State University in 1954. There she was a charter member of North Texas Campus Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Sue’s beauty was legendary among those who knew her. While at North Texas she earned the distinction of Yucca beauty. 

Sue began her career as a teacher in Dublin, Texas. Her career spanned 38 years where she taught in Bryan/College Station and on two different occasions in Stephenville ISD. She ended her career in Stephenville ISD, retiring in 1992. She was adored by her many students and peers in education.

Upon retirement she and Johnny traveled, and also built a second home in Colorado, where they spent summers for a number of years. Sue was an avid sports fan. She loved her Stephenville Yellow Jackets where her grandson, Bryan, was a part of the 2012 State Championship team. She also loved Tarleton where she was honored with the All Purple Award because of her faithful support of Tarleton athletics. In addition, she was a faithful fan of the TCU Horned Frogs for whom her husband John played football. She was especially excited when TCU made an appearance in the national championship game this past season. 

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Stephenville.
