Texans leave Nacogdoches with two school records broken and several podiums

NACOGDOCHES –Both the men’s 5000m and the women’s 400m school records were broken this weekend at Stephen F. Austin.

Kevin Baez broke the men’s 5000m school record with a time of 14:29.42. The time beat the previous record holder of 14:34.17, set by Dylan Willett back in 2016. The time also beat Baez’s personal record by over five seconds.

Hanna Dudley broke the women’s 400m school record with a time of 55.03 seconds. The previous record was 55.19 seconds, which was set in 2017 by Ashley Johnson.

Other Notable Finishes

Morgan Lamberson ran a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:55.27. Lamberson’s time is the fourth fastest time in the WAC. The freshman beat her previous best by over 20 seconds.

Rylee Hennig took third in the high jump with a jump of 1.70m, while Jordan Rae took fourth with a jump of 1.65m.

Three Texans took up all three top spots in the men’s 110m hurdles. Konnor Hoerman won the event with a time of 14.32 seconds, while Caterrin Cox would take second with a time of 14.51 seconds. Cornelius Coleman finished in third with a time of 14.72 seconds.

Aidan Matthews ran a personal best in the 200m with a time of 21.20 seconds. That recorded time is now the seventh fastest time ran in the WAC this season.

The combination of Canyun Staton, Brandon McKissick, Bailey Smotek, and Kevin Baez recorded a time of 3:11.95 in the 4x400m relay. The time is the second fastest time ran in the WAC this season for the event.

Next Up

Tarleton will not compete next weekend, however, will be back on the track on Thursday, April 27.
