The Stephenville Yellow Jackets will take the field Wednesday, May 24, in Abilene against the Midland Greenwood Rangers for Game 1 of the Regional Semifinal.
The Jackets (25-11-1) are coming into the matchup following an exciting defeat of fellow District 6-4A team, the Graham Steers, in two games. Stephenville was able to beat Graham 10-0 in five innings for Game 1 of the series and Game 2 came down to a great 6th inning that allowed the Jackets to turn the tide and continue their 15-game winning streak.
The Steers were leading 5-1 at the top of the sixth, but Stephenville batters got an amazing 10 hits, which resulted in 9 runs at the bottom of the inning to win the game, 10-7, and claim the Regional Quarterfinal title.
The Rangers (22-13) are coming out of District 3-4A in second place and looking to repeat a February tournament game when they beat Stephenville, 2-5. Greenwood made it to the Regional Semifinals by defeating Canyon HS (18-9) in two games last week, 7-1 and 8-4.
Game 1 of the series will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Games 2 and 3 will be in Abilene as well, with Game 2 at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Game 3 at 3:30, if necessary.
