Shiomara Marlene Herrera, born August 18, 1988, in Mexico to parents Fernando and Telma Herrera of Hico, Texas, passed away on May 24, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas at age 34. Shiomara, also known as Shio, loved traveling, woodworking, electrical work, technology, gardening, painting, sports, riding her motorcycle, missionary work and philanthropy. She is a graduate of Hamilton High School and of Tarleton State University, where she earned her RN, BSN, and MBA degrees. Shiomara worked at Chicken Express in both Hamilton and Hico through high school and college. She was an RN for Hamilton General Hospital, a traveling nurse for MedHost, worked for several nursing homes, and started H3 Staffing Solutions.
Preceding Shiomara in death are her infant brother, Pablo Herrera; grandfather, Ramon Cardenas; grandmother, Felicitas Cardenas; and aunt, Irma Aguilar.

Surviving Shiomara are parents Fernando and Telma Herrera of Hico; grandparents Braulio and Eleazar Herrera of Veracruz; uncles Baulio and wife Teresa Herrera of Veracruz, Omar and wife Virginia Herrera of Veracruz, Jesus and wife Diana Cardenas of San Antonio, TX, Gerardo and Arabelle Cardenas of Dublin, TX, and Armando Aguilar and his late wife Irma of Gustine, TX. Also surviving Shiomara are many cousins, including Juan Sanches of Brownwood, TX, Everardo Aguilar of Gustine, TX, Armando, Jr. and Sydney Aguilar of Texas, Rolando and Maite Cardenas of San Antonio, TX, Aleydi Cardenas of San Antonio, TX, Orlando Cardenas of San Antonio, TX, Rafael and Liliana Soland of Proctor, TX, Gerardo Cardenas, Jr. of Temple, TX, Ramon Cardenas of Dublin, TX, Manuel Herrera of Canada, Elianet Herrera of Mexico, Marbel Herrera of Mexico, and Juan Herrera of Mexico. Shiomara also leaves behind her beloved cat, Lio.

Visitation 2-4pm, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Harvest Hills Funeral Home. Funeral Service 5pm, at First Baptist Church, Hico, Texas.
